Back in the spring, I was planning to do a read aloud. I decided to use one of my favorite books, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I didn't want to just read a book, I wanted a fun activity too and thanks to Pinterest, I found this.
Ideas for my student example:
I wish it would rain Kit- Kats because I already own two kitty cats.
I wish it would rain Strawberries because I love them berry much.
I wish it would rain Snickers because then you could snicker at all my jokes.
(Insert uncontrollable laughter) C'mon, this stuffs gold!!
I ended up going with the Strawberry one because I knew the 2nd graders would get that one however, I love the other two because they are so much more original.

G is for Grace
I have thought about doing this craft with the girl I nanny for for months now. I kept pushing it back because I didn't think she could do it. She is 17 months now and I thought for sure she would be more interested in the pom-poms instead of the craft itself but I was wrong. I cut out a letter "G" and put it on the table. I put three dots of glue on the paper and opened the bag of pom-poms. She immediately grabbed a pom-pom, put it on the glue and said, "Push!" I didn't even tell her what to do... I think I nanny for a genius! Seriously, I was amazed. Once she put all three pom-poms on she reached in the bag for more and said, "More, more, more!" I said, "More glue?" She showed me her pom-poms and said, "More gue!"

Zucchini Boats
DELICIOUSNESS AHEAD!!
![]() |
| Here was the picture off of Pinterest. |
I pinned these on Pinterest awhile back. They looked good, but I don't like Zucchini or Tomatoes. Earlier this week, I decided to give them a try and I loved them! I don't know if my taste has changed over the summer or if it was the fact that they were covered in Olive Oil or Cheese, but either way, the recipe was a win with this picky eater and the rest of my family!
![]() | ||
| These were mine. The recipe said put cheese below the tomatoes but the people in my family like to load things with cheese! |
Cut a zucchini in half lengthwise.
You may need to trim a little off the bottom
so it sit still in a baking dish.
Scoop out the center where the seeds
are with a spoon.
Brush the surface with a mixture of crushed garlic,
olive oil, salt and pepper.
Arrange halved tomatoes into the
grooves, sprinkle with bread crumbs and bake in a 350 degree oven for
about 30 minutes.
Remove and place mozzarella in
between the tomatoes.
Put Zucchini Boats back in the oven under the broil until
golden and bubbling.
Remove and sprinkle parmesan cheese.
Enjoy!
