Gingerbread!

I tried a new craft with my 4 year old class this year. My future mother in law had given me a bunch of fabric scraps. I thought it would be fun to "mosaic" our gingerbread so...

I printed out 40 gingerbread coloring pages.
I cut up a bunch of fabric.
I took out glue and let the kids go at it.

After their art died I flattened and cut out the gingerbread.

I put these guys in the hallway and we received so many compliments. Two other teachers even copied my idea.

I made this guy for Mr. Harry. On the back I wrote, "You are my sugar and spice and everything nice!"

Father's Day Art Project

Grace (3) and I made this card and filled out the questionnaire for her father. It turned out so cute and I'm sure he loved it because her mom thought it was adorable!!

Fish Art

We made fish art projects on Monday in 2nd grade! I got the idea from iheartcrafythings.com but what I did not do is click the link to read how to do the craft. It was cute and looked simple but had I read the blog I would have found out you need SMALL cupcake liners and a variety of eyes. There was no way we were getting 4 fish on a page so we just did two and thankfully, it still turned out okay.

G is for Grace

I have thought about doing this craft with the girl I nanny for for months now. I kept pushing it back because I didn't think she could do it. She is 17 months now and I thought for sure she would be more interested in the pom-poms instead of the craft itself but I was wrong. I cut out a letter "G" and put it on the table. I put three dots of glue on the paper and opened the bag of pom-poms. She immediately grabbed a pom-pom, put it on the glue and said, "Push!" I didn't even tell her what to do... I think I nanny for a genius! Seriously, I was amazed. Once she put all three pom-poms on she reached in the bag for more and said, "More, more, more!" I said, "More glue?" She showed me her pom-poms and said, "More gue!" 

So simple and yet so freaking cute don't you think?!

Leaf Craft

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!!

G and I did this leaf craft back in September. It turned out so cute! 

Directions:
1. Cut paper into small squares
2. Put glue on paper
3. Put squares on paper
4. Find a leaf template online
5. Use template to cut project out

Popcorn!

Yesterday, in my first grade class we sang a song called, "Pop! Goes the Popcorn!" When I got home I wanted to find that song and print it out for future use with the girl I nanny for but I could not find it anywhere! This morning I stumbled across, Popcorn Storytime which included finger plays, songs, poems and more. On the list was the song I was looking for- YAY! I adjusted the actions to match what we did in class but you can find the alternative actions and other poems, songs, crafts, books and more here.

Pop! Goes the Popcorn!

Father's Day

I have been so overwhelmed with homework and my summer classes that I didn't even get around to creating a Father's Day card until today. Oh well, better late than never!!

I can't sew and most of the Quiet books I found and have seen have involved sewing. Thanks to Pinterest, I found a template for a quiet book using Velcro. Above are the pages in the book I made for the little girl I nanny for.

Footprint Snowman

This is the footprint snowman I made with a 7 month olds foot.

Materials:
1. Cardstock
2. White paint
3. Buttons (I used sequins)
4. Ribbon for a scarf
5. Googly eyes
6. Hat 
7. Snowflake Stickers

There are so many unique ways to make a snowman. The materials listed above are what I chose to use. The most important thing is to be creative and have fun!

Baby's 1st Christmas

Baby's 1st Christmas Ornament

Materials: 

Glitter

Glue (Martha Stewart Craft Glue)

Ornament

Ribbon to hang ornament on tree (optional)

1. Gather materials.

2. Paint baby's hand with glue and roll onto ornament OR trace baby's hand on paper, cut it out, spread glue on the hand, roll on ornament, and peel off.

3. Sprinkle glitter.

4. Let dry.

5. Add ribbon so the ornament can hang on the tree. 
6. Spray hairspray on ornament as that is supposed to help the glitter stick.

**If you decide to paint your baby's hand with glue and roll it on the ornament it is a 2 person job! I didn't have a second person so I chose to trace baby's hand on paper and it worked very well!

Halloween Craft

Adorable!

Ghost Footprint:

1. Paint child's foot with white paint.
2. Press onto black construction paper.
3. Add eyes and a mouth with permanent marker.
Optional: Add a bow for a girl ghost. Type out 'Happy Halloween' and glue onto the paper.
