G is for Grace

I have thought about doing this craft with the girl I nanny for for months now. I kept pushing it back because I didn't think she could do it. She is 17 months now and I thought for sure she would be more interested in the pom-poms instead of the craft itself but I was wrong. I cut out a letter "G" and put it on the table. I put three dots of glue on the paper and opened the bag of pom-poms. She immediately grabbed a pom-pom, put it on the glue and said, "Push!" I didn't even tell her what to do... I think I nanny for a genius! Seriously, I was amazed. Once she put all three pom-poms on she reached in the bag for more and said, "More, more, more!" I said, "More glue?" She showed me her pom-poms and said, "More gue!"

So simple and yet so freaking cute don't you think?!

Grand Canyon Little Book

One of my assignments for class this week was to go on a virtual field trip and create a little book. A little book is a six page book with a title page. I did mine on the Grand Canyon.

Chevy Cruze Card

Three weeks ago I bought a 2014 Chevy Cruze! During the weeks leading up to that, I worked very closely with the sales manager, Josh as he was helping me through the GMC Buyback program. I felt like a thank you was in order. Some people told me that buying a new car was his thank you but I didn't agree with that. I really felt that he fought for me to get the full buy back amount. He was also great at keeping ongoing and open communication about the entire process. I decided to make him a card because if you think something good about someone, I believe you should tell them. Here's the card I came up with:

I woke up in the middle of the night with this idea in my head. Turned out pretty cute didn't it?!

Happy Birthday!

July and August seem to be full of birthdays. Last week I was able to celebrate birthdays with two friends from elementary school. I have known Donna since the 1st grade and Alison since we were in 5th grade. I am so grateful to have these two in my life!

Happy Birthday, Girlies!

I can't sew and most of the Quiet books I found and have seen have involved sewing. Thanks to Pinterest, I found a template for a quiet book using Velcro. Above are the pages in the book I made for the little girl I nanny for.

Here's the link to the template: http://kojo-designs.com/2011/03/guest-tutorial-from-made-by-heidi-quiet-book/

Pirate Wore A...

Only glue that works on felt is hot glue!

Patch comes in 9 different colors.

Song (Tune of Mary Wore a Red Dress):
Pirate wore a red patch, red patch, red patch
Pirate wore a red patch all day long.
(Switch the color as you switch the eye patch)

If you'd like the template for this project, you can find it here: http://storytimekatie.com/2012/06/08/flannel-friday-pirates/

Felt Cupcakes

People seem to be able to get perfect circles and other shapes out of felt, but I haven't mastered it yet. My cupcakes aren't perfect, but the kids love making their own cupcakes. They get to choose a cupcake, frosting, wrapper and sprinkles. It's mix and match so the kids can make it their own!

Baby's 1st Christmas

Baby's 1st Christmas Ornament

Materials:
Glitter
Glue (Martha Stewart Craft Glue)
Ornament
Ribbon to hang ornament on tree (optional)

1. Gather materials.
2. Paint baby's hand with glue and roll onto ornament OR trace baby's hand on paper, cut it out, spread glue on the hand, roll on ornament, and peel off.
3. Sprinkle glitter.
4. Let dry.
5. Add ribbon so the ornament can hang on the tree.
6. Spray hairspray on ornament as that is supposed to help the glitter stick.

**If you decide to paint your baby's hand with glue and roll it on the ornament it is a 2 person job! I didn't have a second person so I chose to trace baby's hand on paper and it worked very well!

Mosaic Frame

Beads I chose at Michael's.

Sanded down the frame a bit so it wasn't so glossy.

Added Adhesive for the beads to stick.

A few hours later I added in the sanded grout.

Done with the grout!

Cleaning off the beads.

All dry so I added in a picture.

I wasn't sure which picture to go with so I put the second one in and the first one is behind it in case she wants to switch it out.

All done and ready for Cassie!
